Arsen Wenger’s Arsenal will on Thursday night clash with Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-final first leg tie at the Emirate Stadium.
Wenger’s men heads into this clash following their 4-1 dumping of West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday.
The North London club are looking to win the continental competition to provide them with major silverware, a route into the Champions League.
Recall that Wenger announced in a statement last week Friday morning that he would be leaving the Gunners at the end of the current season after 22 years with the club, ending a long tenure that got him three Premier League titles.
The Gunners beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 the last time both clubs met during an Emirates Cup clash in 2009.
Playmaker, Mesut Ozil is also back in the team after recovering from an injury.
Midfielder, Mohamed Elneny has been ruled out from the clash due to ankle injury.
Goalkeeper, Petr Cech is back from hip injury after missing their last match against West Ham.
Striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible to play in the competition, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is still recovering from knee ligament damage.
Meanwhile, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid heads into this clash after defeating Real Sociedad 3-0 in the La Liga in their last match.
Simeone’s men have won the Europa League trophy on two occasions in 2010 and 2012.
Defender, Juanfran has been ruled out from this clash due to thigh injury, while striker, Diego Costa is back from injury.
