Manolo Gabbiadini scored the winner in the 72nd minute, as Southampton claimed a 1-0 victory at Swansea on Tuesday night, to inch closer to Premier League safety for next season.
Gabbiadini bundled home from close range following a corner kick, after a rebound from a Charlie Austin volley fell to him in front of the net.
The result almost guarantees Southampton’s spot in the Premier League for next season.
It however means West Bromwich Albion have now been relegated to the Championship.
The loss for Swansea City, who face already relegated Stoke in their final match of the season, leaves their hopes of beating the drop hanging by a thread.
